Seasons of Growth and Memory
SEPTEMBER
FIGS
A reminder of living life and finding growth.
Fall is for figs,
when the trees take the breeze and unclothe,
I will find inspiration in each season—
to give me a reason,
to be slow in my show,
as I do both.
A reminder—
as the trees’ carefree leaves dance with such abundance,
finding figs in this season provides me with a reason
for self-indulgence.
In September, I painted a fig,
so that I don’t renege—
a fall-fillment to myself,
a reminder to herself.
